Hiring - Assistant Mechanic

With the rapid growth of our business, we are seeking to hire a full time, Assistant Mechanic to join our team in Manassas, VA. Our skilled team of mechanics is the driving force behind our ability to meet the goals and needs of our contract schedules. Mechanics are responsible for performing scheduled maintenance and repair on equipment, including hydraulic and diesel engines and electrical systems. The Assistant Mechanic will work directly with our Equipment Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, diagnostic skills and abilities, a desire to take on challenges, and are a true team player dedicated to exceptional workmanship.

Responsibilities:
•Completing oil changes on trucks and equipment, and small engines
•Changing brakes on trucks and trailers fixing electrical issues on trucks and trailers and helping out other mechanics with larger jobs as needed
•Knowledge and experience with electrical wiring and brakes is a plus
•Must have the ability to lift, push or pull 70+ pounds, climb heavy equipment, and bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods
•Must have strong communication and listening skills and be able to read, write and speak English
•Must have safety and compliance knowledge

Qualifications:
•Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record
•Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience with ford diesel trucks; heavy equipment is a plus
•Heavy truck experience/Air brake diagnostics and repair experience
•A/C experience/certification/diagnostics
•Experience with diagnostic tools
•Electrical diagnostics and repair
•Must have your own equipment/tools (there will be some supplies at the shop)
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent
•Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and trouble-shoot for proper operation before and after
maintenance
•Experience with IDS [Ford] repair software is a plus
•Position requires preemployment background screen

Physical Requirements:
•Employee must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

•Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.

•Other physical requirements include walking, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
