Electrical Engineer

Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, the USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing electrical engineering requirements and solutions in a hospital environment. You will be performing a variety of engineering duties by applying various electrical engineering techniques and analyses to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care. This project has been awarded to Planate.

This requirement is for on-site (not remote) work at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS). This position has been awarded to Planate.

Salary: $120,000.00 to $160,000.00 PER YEAR + BENEFITS (Medical insurance/ 401K plan/ HSA plan/ Holiday pay/ PTO/ Maternity leave)

The company will support the reasonable relocation allowance.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for contributing to all phases of capital project planning and delivery from concept, specification, design, analysis, construction, commissioning, and activation
Responsible for professional reviews related to project management services required by the contract
Perform other services during the construction phases that are not included in the contract vehicles associated with the project
Review the contractor’s submittals for technical compliance with contract requirements
Advises on the coordination of disruptions to utility services as needed to keep construction progress on schedule and to minimize disruption to ongoing VA operations
Assures completion of projects involving design and review applying seasoned professional technical knowledge and experience in the oversight of an interdisciplinary team engaged in carrying out projects
Submit monthly reports indicating work completed, work in progress with estimated completion dates, work schedule, and outstanding work
Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to support project designs and plans when necessary
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications To be successful in the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Engineering school
Minimum of five (5) years of specialized experience in a similar discipline. Hospital/Healthcare experience essential
Desired: previous experience on a VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) project
Experienced in preparing correspondence, written reports, and maintaining official project records
Experienced in conducting meetings, and briefing clients and management personnel
Knowledge of construction practices and techniques, e.g., proper applications of construction materials and methods of installation in the Architect’s or Engineer’s area of expertise
Able to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications
Able to accurately calculate construction costs for changes, price the value of needed work, and negotiate equitable adjustments
Able to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the area of expertise
Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including specifically, a background that indicates familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements on construction projects.
