Assistant Banquet Manager–$22-$26 per DOE

The Army and Navy Club on Farragut Square in Washington, DC is seeking a hands-on Assistant Banquet Manager who will assist the Banquet Manager and Director of Events and Catering in overseeing day-to-day operations of all food and beverage functions, AND when needed assists with service of banquet events.

This is as hybrid position that will require administrative assistance in the Catering Office during slower periods.

Ensures banquet operations are managed in an efficient manner and that our staff are providing exceptional service to Members and their guests.

Oversees set-up and break-down of food and beverage for all banquet functions when assigned; Greets and checks-in with event Point of Contact prior to event and responds to last-minute requests in a timely manner.

Provides exemplary customer service to our members and their guests at all times.

• Oversees and supervises private event banquet functions as assigned.
• Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
• Inspects set-up of function room(s) for accuracy and coordinates room(s) break-down with House Department in a productive manner to anticipate upcoming events and maximize labor efficiency.
• Follows pertinent information as listed on the reservation/function sheet when assigned and reacts when supervisor of the shift.
• Assigns responsibilities to staff to facilitate successful event execution when supervisor of the shift.
• Setup, break-down and check all A/V according to function sheet as listed and be available for A/V test with event POC.
• Participates in monthly/periodic inventories as assigned by supervisor.
• Ensures the security of Club assets such as A/V equipment while on duty.
• Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner at all times as a “goodwill ambassador” of The Army and Navy Club.
• Follows and enforces established rules, regulations, standards, processes, and policies for self and staff.
• Assumes the responsibilities of the Banquet Manager when necessary and as assigned.
• Leadership and supervisory responsibilities in relation to hourly banquet staff including but not limited to shift-oversight and staff training.
• Requisition of beverage and bar supplies based on individual function sheet details and provides accurate consumption report to Director for billing.
• Completes Banquet Event Recap for all events, capturing, in-detail, anything of note for billing or for the Director to be aware of.

What is required of you?
• One (1) year of supervisory experience and at least two (2+) years of Hospitality experience is required. Previous hospitality experience at a private club or boutique hotel is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
• Serve Safe certified and ABC License is mandatory; Club will assist with procuring as needed.
• Associates Degree in Hospitality Management is Preferred

Hours:
Schedule based on event business. Must be flexible & willing to work: Nights; Holidays; Weekends as needed.

You will be rewarded with a competitive hourly wage $22 -$26 per hour DOE.
