The position will be responsible for all in house payroll processing, to include benefit deductions, payroll taxes and employee questions. In addition, this position supports the Goverment accounts payables and expense reporting. Training will be provided, candidate will work alongside the current manager.
Pay: $32-37 Hourly rate
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00AM- 5:00PM
Assignment length: 4-6 Months
Duties:
Process semi-monthly multi-state payroll including salary and hourly employees (70 plus records)
Day-to-day payroll and benefits administration, including enrolling new hires, processing changes and terminations
Review timesheet and pay data, compliance with company timekeeping systems and pay procedures
Perform related 401(k) uploads, journal entries, and accrual reconciliations
Ensure compliance with federal/state/local tax deadlines
Understand proper taxation of employer and paid benefits
Assist employees with benefit questions, forms, and issues as they arise
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the projects structure, billings, and financial reporting
Required Qualifications:
Must have Government accounting experience
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/auditing or business administration
Focus on semester hours in accounting/auditing
Experience in addition to education
Multi State payroll processing (MD, WV, DC, VA)
Payroll taxes
Cost Accounting
Expense reports
Emphasis on QuickBooks experience
Excellent skill in MS Office & Excel
Proven ability to work independently and part of a team
